PayPal Security Center Scam
How many of you have ever used PayPal? Or how about E-Bay? PayPal is an online security payment businesses that allows ordinary people and small business owners (although larger business corporations are now utilizing PayPal because of the sheer volumn of people using it) to be able to process credit card payments and make credit payments without having a merchant account or major credit.
Is it a good system? I have checked it out over the years and feel that it is one of the best options available. Especially for the small business owner who is just starting out on the Internet and is not sure how much business he or she will do during their first year.
However, that doesn’t mean that there are not scammers out there trying to steal, cheat and deceive you our of our Identity, your log-in information and your money.
As I have written in the past, these “scammers” use certain techniques over and over again. Why? Because unfortunately, too many people do not pay enough attention until it is too late. My goal is that if this notice helps even one person avoid the scam before it happens – then I have not wasted my time. Scammer, more often than not, use the fear factor first in the main notification of the email. They will send you an email that for all practical purposes looks like is coming from PayPal – except it will have a “Warning Notification” clearly marked on the top. Below is a sample of the text of one of these scammer emails.
